How Many Dog Breeds Are There in the World?
Different organizations that oversee dog breed recognition vary on the number of approved breeds. Because the FCI (Federation Cynologique International) acknowledges 360 breeds, we may conclude that at least this many dog breeds exist. We can only speculate how many breeds actually exist throughout the world because the estimate excludes mixed breeds and even prominent and well-known designer breeds.
